If you dont know well what is ESC volunteering please read here: https://mtv2019.wordpress.com/what-is-evs/
In the association, the problems related to this reality are supported by the valorisation of the cultural plurality and the different social situations existing. The association runs, during the year, daily activities for didactic support, manual and expressive body and scientific workshops related to the environment, psychophysical and emotional wellness. Many workshops and activities are implemented in cooperation with many different local organizations.
Currently “Il Beccogiallo” is made up of 6 staff members and receives support from the adult volunteers-members. “Il Beccogiallo” has been hosting trainees in the frame of the “Leonardo da Vinci” Programme since 2009 and ESC volunteers since 2011. The children and the staff of “Il Beccogiallo” have hosted till now these European youth with enthusiasm and curiosity. The experience of involving foreign youngsters has been, for the association, good support for the implementation of the project, an important motivation to create new initiatives and a valid resource for the children, who are able to interact with new cultures and new languages. All this had, within the association and the local community, positive results in terms of intercultural exchange, relationships and personal growth of the subjects involved. The association and the children’s families know that hosting young people from different countries is an important value to encourage, among the children and the local community, the principle of tolerance, diversity and the fight against discrimination. Until today we hosted 13 long-term EVS volunteers from different countries (Turkey, Spain, France, Slovakia and Norway)
Today Beccogiallo is coordinated by the organization Basilicata Link which manages the ESC within the hosting city of Matera. “Il Beccogiallo” is coordinated by Basilicata Link, who supports all administrational questions of the ESC volunteers hosted and is available in case of problems and mediation necessity. Inside the structure is available a competent staff for the continuous support of the volunteers.
The tutors, Angela and Domenica, realize meetings with the volunteer and have weekly and monthly evaluations to support the learning process and management of crises. Moreover, with the help of the ESC supporter of Basilicata Link the volunteer receives Arrival Training to enter smoothly into the working area and sector. The volunteers receive all necessary training and support, specific if needed, to care for the children and to support their learning process in a positive way.
The volunteers will be involved in the following activities:
1) support the daily life of the association, helping the staff with
- after school activities of kids from 6 to 14 years or,

Volunteers do live in double rooms, inside a flat shared with other volunteers in Matera. The flats are between 5 and 10 min walking distance from the city centre, and between 5 and 15 min to the hosting organization. The apartments are self-managed by the persons who live inside (cleaning, shopping, cooking) and everyone needs to follow basic rules.
Every volunteer hosted within ESC program receives on a monthly basis:
- pocket money (5€ per day, about 150 euro)
- food money (155 euro)
